COUNSELING SERVICES

I enjoy working with adults in individual and couples' counseling. My theoretical foundation is eclectic which means I utilize a variety of conceptual frameworks to address the widest presentation of issues and clinical features that may occur. The counseling theory that most closely parallels my philosophical orientation, however, is the cognitive-behavioral model which, simply stated, suggests that individuals feel and act according to the specific belief systems they maintain.

When clients ask what the counseling experience is like, I frequently respond that they will most-likely experience me as being perceptive, interactive and helpful in assisting them in resolving their issues. I enjoy humor and believe in its therapeutic value. I believe in self-responsibility and encourage clients to be in charge of their goals and growth. My role is to help clients in their journey to identify what is hindering happiness and personal growth. The following is an overview of issues commonly addressed:

Depression • Anxiety • Fears • Relationship Turmoil • Stress • Self-Esteem • Substance Abuse and Assessment • Divorce • Affair Recovery • Family of Origin • Workplace Dynamics • Personal Growth • Grief • Gay/Lesbian and Blended Family Issues

No problem is too small or insignificant. In fact, often, it is better to have a resource to process and re-frame the small things in order to prevent them from becoming critical issues. Collaborating and problem-solving is what I love to do - my reward is seeing growth and change that can result.

Fees:
For individual and couples' counseling, self-pay is preferred; however, many insurance plans are welcome provided you acquire proper authorization. To do this, call the number on the back of your insurance card for mental health services.

If you use insurance, contact them and find out the following information:

  • My name may be listed with them as "W. Myles Hassler" or simply "Myles Hassler." I will be a Master's level provider and have the credentials of "M.S., L.P.C." in their system - disregard the others.
  • Check to see if I appear on the "in-network" panel to afford you the best benefit. Or, you may have an out-of-network benefit at a lesser rate.
  • Check to see if the insurance or managed care company is authorizing you for EAP (limited number of visits) or out-patient counseling (you pay a co-pay but have more sessions).
  • Find out whether or not you have a deductible that must be met first and whether or not the deductible begins at the beginning of the calendar year or later on.
  • My office address is 1900 Century Place, NE, Ste. 200, Atlanta! I no longer maintain office space at 1640 Powers Ferry Rd., Marietta or 2801 Buford Highway.
My hourly fee for a 45-50 minute therapy hour is $110.00/hour. I do not accept credit cards for the time being.

Substance abuse assessments are all self-pay - see my other web pages relating to this area.
